St. Mary’s Sunday Seminar
No tuition. No exams. Just Scripture, questions, and curiosity.

Do you want to dig a little deeper into our Sunday readings? Learn how to do a “close reading”? Discover what a little Hebrew or Greek can reveal? Explore the historical and cultural context of a biblical passage, or even learn a bit about how the Bible itself came to be? Starting September 20, we’re trying something new at St. Mary’s: a time of teaching and conversation before Sunday worship, beginning at 9am on the Sundays when Rev. Lynn is at St. Mary’s. That will usually be the first and third Sundays of the month, but please check the upcoming events in the leaflet, our weekly e-newsletter, or the events page on our website. We will meet in the chapel room (left room at the front).

Think of it as a kind of mini seminary — without the tuition, exams, or required reading! Bring your questions, your curiosity, and even your doubts. We’ll explore Scripture together, sometimes going behind the English translation to look at Hebrew or Greek, sometimes digging into history and context, and sometimes simply asking what we may have missed on a first reading. This will be a conversation, not a lecture. Come for the questions, stay for the discoveries, and then join us for worship.
