Metchosin ChallengeHow Big Issues have Changed in Current Times - Tuesday, March 31, 2026 Please see the attached image to share on your social media sites! Thank you! St Mary’s Metchosin has, for the 10th year, put together a Lenten Challenge. It is called the Metchosin Challenge. It is a challenge from St Mary’s church to all the community to live better by being more aware of the issues facing our world, so we can be empowered to act to make our world a better place. This Challenge is in the form of a speaker series designed for a general audience on a wide range of topics. We have had speakers such as Elizabeth May, Andy Mackinnon, Wally Eamer, and Herbert O’ Driscol. Each year we have had a theme. The first year it was Big Issues Facing the World. In the following years we tackled such topics as Climate Change, Native Relations, Species Diversity, Human Rights Issues, Empower People for Action, Little Things That You Can Do to Make a Difference, Hope in a Changing World, Embracing Change, What Are Children Worrying About, Issues in Our Own Health. Last year, for the first time, we held a non-secular topic, Exploring Modern Religion. This year we will be revisiting our first year's topic of, Big Issues Facing the World, with a slightly different slant of, How Big Issues have Changed in Current Times. The Metchosin Challenge Series will begin Tuesday, February 24 from 7:00-8:30 and will run every Tuesday until the end of March. Feb 24th Rev. Wally Eamer: Rupture - Individual Rights, Identity and Collective Action Zoom Link: Meeting ID: 820 7909 6297 For more infomation visit: http://stmarysmetchosin.ca/events/metchosin-challenge--536/2026-03-31

Pastoral VisitsThursday, April 23, 2026 One of the beautiful gifts of parish life is simply being together — not only on Sundays, but in living rooms, kitchens, hospital rooms, and over cups of coffee or tea. To make space for that, Parish Council has increased my time slightly to allow one dedicated day each month for pastoral visits in Metchosin and the surrounding area. This will take place on the third Thursday of each month. These visits are not only for times of crisis. They are for making connections, building relationships, and hearing the stories that shape your life and faith. If you would welcome conversation, prayer, or companionship — whether you are celebrating, struggling, wondering, or just wanting to talk — I would be glad to come. The easiest way to arrange for a visit is to use this link: https://calendly.com/lmills-bc/60min. However, I’m happy to use an exchange of emails if you’d prefer. I look forward to sitting with you and listening well. Yours in Christ, Rev. Lynn Mills For more infomation visit: http://stmarysmetchosin.ca/events/pastoral-visits/2026-04-23 |
