St Mary's Metchosin invites your family to participate in our Messy Church. Join us the second Friday of each month for a shared meal, a creative biblical reflection, music, and family time.

Families of all shapes and sizes are welcome; grandparents bring your grandchildren; children bring your parents. Activities will be friendly and enjoyable for all ages.

When: 2nd Friday of each month Sept-June, 5:30-7:30
Who: led by Nicole Hergert and volunteers from the congregation

Friday December 13

This coming Messy Church is one of our favourites. We will watch The Star, a retelling of the Christmas Story.
Here is a link to the trailer. It is rated PG and there are some scary parts. I will leave the God's eye craft out in the Sunday School room for any who want to stay for the movie but need to take a break.

We hope you can join us for all or part of the evening, depending on what works best for your family. Please see below for a rough schedule for the evening.

But first I want to share some information about two traditions our family loves and you might love too

1. Advent, beginning Dec 1, is a time of waiting and quiet contemplation. A few years ago our family began a tradition of lighting a candle and listening to a chapter from All Creation Waits each night. The author, Gayle Boss a theologian and naturalist, uses science and story telling to creation connection with our natural world at a time when it seems all has died. It is one of our favorite times of the day and I invite you to try it this season. The audio book is available through Apple Books, Google Play Books and Audible.

2. Candlelight Service at old St Mary's. For the past few years Greg has hosted a short and sweet candlelight service. This year I have taken over the organizing. I hope you can join us for a late afternoon early celebration of Christmas on Sunday December 22.

Schedule for December Messy Church
5:30 - 5:40 God's eye craft, snacks
5:40 - 5:55 gather for singing and the Christmas story
5:55 - soups on!
6:10 - start movie (which has us wrapping up 10 minutes later than usual)

Please let me know if you plan to join us and if you have any questions at all!

Nicole
