AbbeyChurch Summer Teaching Series

AbbeyChurch Summer Teaching Series

Many of St. Mary’s folk know that our priest, Lynn Mills is a member of the new-monastic community, Emmaus Community and AbbeyChurch.  AbbeyChurch is ministry of the Emmaus Community and is a shared ministry of the Anglican Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada.

AbbeyChurch is offering a series of four services which explore their liturgy. Each week will explore the four parts of their services through conversations among 3 or more AbbeyChurch folk. The services are on Sundays at 4 pm at 932 Balmoral Road (corner of Balmoral and Quadra) in the United Commons building. It’s a big brick church. There is some parking behind the church and along the street.

The services are as follows:

  • July 6th: We will explore the first part of the service, We Gather.
  • July 20th: We will explore the second part of the service, We Proclaim, when we read the scriptures, preach, and pray.
  • August 3rd: We will explore the third part of the service, We Feast, the Eucharist.
  • August 17th: We will explore the fourth part of the service, We are Sent.

CLAY

CLAY

The Canadian Lutheran Anglican Youth Gathering (CLAY) will be taking place from August 21-24 in Saskatoon, SK. To learn more about CLAY 2025, CLICK HERE.

Theme

Rooted and rising. From our roots laid down for us, from our past, to rising up and putting our best foot forward, and standing up for what we believe in. Like the rising of the sun in the east, each day starts with a light glow at the break of the day, to the flourishing beams at midday. As the hours pass becoming more powerful.

Each time you rise, your roots will become greater and stronger. Like a community, with just a few people, it would not survive, but the more roots, the more people in the community, the more likely it will thrive. Just like in the parable of the mustard seed, the mustard seed starts as the smallest seed. Growing its roots, to rise into a bright yellow flower. Where will you rise to? How deep will your roots go?

Fun fact: did you know that Saskatchewan is the world’s number one exporter of mustard seeds?
